Virginia Education Association and JCC Firefighters Back Farlow
The Virginia Education Association and the James City County Professional Firefighters have announced their support for Troy Farlow, candidate for the 96th District of the House of Delegates.
Princess R. Moss, President of the Virginia Education Association, stated “I am pleased to recommend Troy Farlow (HD 96) and look forward to working with him in January. I think Troy understands the issues and challenges of our teachers. The next elected General Assembly will adopt a biennial budget which will allocate the state funds for our schools. Already we hear of proposals to reduce funding, cut programs, reduce state support for teacher salaries for a way to address the transportation needs and make up for a budget short fall. I believe that Troy Farlow will do his best to represent the interests of public education. Our teachers stand behind the candidates who stand up for us.” The VEA represents 56,000 teachers statewide, with 3600 members in the local chapter.
The James City County Professional Firefighters are enthusiastically endorsing the Farlow campaign. In a letter to James City County residents, President John Porter said, “Mr. Farlow truly appreciates the vital role Firefighters and First Responders play in the safety of our community, and is committed to supporting the wide range of issues faced by those in the profession, from prevention through safety to provision of adequate resources. Our elected officials must understand how crucial adequate legislative measures are in protecting our citizens. We believe Troy Farlow is dedicated to safety and well-being of firefighters and first responders as well as the citizens of James City County. Please join us in supporting Troy Farlow to represent the 96th District of the Virginia House of Delegates.”
Troy Farlow responded by stating “The endorsements from each of these organizations are very meaningful to me as I value the contributions made by both of these professions to the well-being of our community. Teachers and firefighters exemplify the kind of people that work to help and care about others. It is especially gratifying to know that so many citizens of this community understand my message about putting partisanship aside and working for effective government. It’s a privilege to receive these endorsements and a powerful reminder of why I chose to run for this office – to represent real people through real solutions that move our community forward.”
